NW Regional Preceptor & Clinical Rotation Network
In April of 2005, the Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation hosted the first Confluence of Northwest States, which brough together osteopathic physicians from the region to discuss issues within the Northwest's osteopathic community and create greater regional partnerships. A key outcome of the Confluence was the need to establish and manage a regional preceptor database for students interested in doing clinical rotations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The Foundation has implemented the NW Regional Preceptor & Clinical Rotation Network to assist students seeking clinical rotations in the Pacific Northwest.
Rotation Opportunities Reflect the Northwest Personality
More than 180 physicians from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington have responded to the Foundation's call for preceptors. These physicians offer clinical opportunities ranging from family medicine and OMM to pediatric cardiology, orthopedic surgery, oncology, critical care, child psychiatry, sports medicine, gynecology, obstetrics, rehabilitative medicine, anesthesiology, internal medicine and geriatrics. Also the multiplicity of rotation locations is astounding, from a "frontier" village in the interior of Alaska, to Native American clinics in Idaho and Montana, to downtown Seattle and Portland. The variety and richness of life in the Northwest is certainly reflected in the opportunities provided through this network of talented D.O.'s and M.D.'s who are dedicated to serving the educational needs of osteopathic medical students across the country.
