A Cup of Coffee: How Not To Die (Part IX in a series)

Welcome back! Last week, we learned about our diets and how they may impact climate change. If you missed this blog and would like to catch up, click HERE.

This week, we visit with Dr. Ross about Bacteria….Ew, right? I bet we have a lot to learn where this subject is concerned. Join me? Grab A Cup of Coffee and let’s chat!

Let’s talk TMAO  and other chemicals in our food.   “Carnitine, Choline, Cancer, and Cholesterol  The TMAO Connection” https://nutritionfacts.org/video/carnitine-choline-cancer-and-cholesterol-the-tmao-connection/

The bacteria that populate your colon are determined by your food choices.  If you are eating mainly plants, your colon is populated with bacteria that do not produce TMAO (an inflammatory chemical) that promotes the deposition of LDL cholesterol in your arteries leading to plaque formation and atherosclerotic changes; which lead to heart attacks and strokes.   If you are eating mainly animal products your colon is populated with bacteria that lead to the production of TMAO; which leads to increased risk of cardiovascular disease.   These foods are meat, dairy, and eggs.  If you wish to avoid the side effects that are induced by TMAO in your body…you now know how to accomplish that.

PCBs, dioxins, mercury, cadmium, and lead are all concerns.  View this video and consider your food choices carefully.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are formed when heating meat; the higher the temperature..the more AGEs and these AGEs age youFree radicals also age you as they are oxidized like iron left out in the weather….and the meat sweet diet has an increased amount of these free radical compared to a whole food plant- based diet.   Sodium phosphate is used as a preservative in foods like chicken (found in fast foods and processed foods) and the extra sodium load is not helping you achieve the best health.

We all should be concerned about eating unhealthy chemicals….so check it out and you will discover that eating more plant based foods and less animal products will reduce these chemicals for you and your family.

Best of Health
