Museum of Osteopathic Medicine “Behind The Scenes Tour” with Jason Haxton – Thursday, January 19th via Zoom
Early each year, the Foundation provides a special “thank you” to our supporting members, and this January we have a great gift for you!
The Museum of Osteopathic Medicine at A.T. Still University in Kirksville is a nationally accredited museum for its first-class collections and archives which give DOs and the general public opportunities to learn about and research the history of osteopathic medicine.
Unfortunately, most of us have never been to Kirksville. But this event is going to bring Kirksville to us!

If you don’t know Museum Director Jason Haxton, he’s not what I envision for someone with this job. He is a dynamic presenter with an infectious smile: he’s a first-class storyteller! This won’t be a dull series of PowerPoint slides. “Ninety percent of what a museum has is not out on public display“, according to Jason. “So let’s give your members the chance to see the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff. I’ll just grab a camera and give them a tour!“
Did you know that the AOA had a national event in Portland in the early 20th century? Jason’s got the swag to prove it and will share this and other Northwest-related artifacts with us on our special tour.
Did you know that the US Speaker of the House of Representatives came to Kirksville to see Dr. Still? He did, and the story behind that visit is not only historically significant but tells us something important about “modern medicine for the body, mind, and spirit.”
