NEW ITEM – A Collection of Stories by a Northwest DO

The Doctor’s Bag, by Al Turner, DO

The Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation is proud to present our newest fundraiser, a paperback book, written by our own Dr. Al Turner, DO.

Dr. Turner graduated in 1978 from Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He holds a Master of Arts degree in Education, and is Board Certified in both Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Family Medicine.  Among other positions held over the years, Dr. Turner was the Director of the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Department at Eastmoreland Hospital, in Portland, for 10 years before the hospital closed in 2003.  After that, he started his own practice in Portland specializing in the non-surgical treatment of pain. Students from over 20 Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine have trained in his office.

Dr. Turner retired in June of 2013.

He dedicates his book to his wife, Beryl, “my toughest critic and my greatest champion” and “to those young physicians, residents, medical students and pre-med students, who kept me on my toes with their questions, and who would accept nothing less than the best I had to offer”.

This book is worth the read, and 100% of sales will be dedicated to scholarships awarded to students intending to practice osteopathic medicine in the Pacific Northwest.
